Building Defects Warranty Assessment

Whenever the property reaches the end of its warranty under the original construction of recently undertaken building works, it is highly recommended to undertake a warranty inspection under the applicable legislation. This wall, all defects done by the builder can be recorded and prosecuted to avoid further expenses by the client.  SCE provide Expert Services for Civil, Structural, Façade, Stormwater and General building defects in line with the following legislations and warranty terms:

  • Home Building Act 1989 Minor Defects – 2 year warranty

  • Home Building Act 1989 Major Defects – 6 year warranty

  • Design and Building Practitioners Act NSW 2020 - Serious Defects Causing Economic Loss – 10 years for the extended duty of care

Expert Witness Reports

When disputes arise related to building matters, we offer our Expert Witness services to assess the issue and provide an unbiased report, either for claims, NCAT, Court or other matters. Expert Witness reports are prepared in line with:

  • UNIFORM CIVIL PROCEDURE RULES 2005 - SCHEDULE 7 – Expert Witness Code of Conduct

  • National Construction Code of Australia, Australian Standards, NSW Guide to Standards and Tolerances
